  3. FontShop Webfonts – Web font service on selection of their fonts deemed suitable for web use. Includes handly little tool Fontfonter to see how the fonts look in a website.
  4. Typekit – One of the first web font services, also has quite a useful blog.
  5. Typotheque – Web Font Service enables you to use custom fonts in your website using the @font-face rule in CSS.
  6. Fonts.com from Monotype – Web font service using Monotype fonts.
  7. Extensis WebInk – High-quality fonts for your websites. Easily use professional type from trusted foundries in the sites you design.

This is another group that have sprung up fighting the cause to make more fonts freely available for web design using @font-face. It is still embryonic but there are some nice fonts available (Raleway by Matt Mc Inerney for example) – and its hard to criticise anything that is free. The fonts can be used subject to the SIL Open Font License.  It will be interesting to see how it grows over the coming months. Also, check out the Open Font Library (OFL), but the new site is quite buggy.

Here’s a really interesting visualisation from Jeff Clark. It uses Summize which provides excellent search capability for Twitter data and its built with Processing.

I typed in typography and web just to see what it would look like. One topic is coloured blue, the other red, and the associated words are coloured and positioned based on how highly they are associated with the two topics. Chris Harrison’s visualisations using a similar concept provided the inspiration for this piece.
